This segment focuses on European philosophers interested in what made up reality from the early years of written history to the 19th century. Their observations and discussions about matter and atoms led to the eventual discovery of their property patterns that grew the knowledge necessary for element organization into useful arrangements, providing a foundation for modern chemistry.

One of the two presentation choices above is a .pdf of the series of slides that make up the PowerPoint, useful for quick appraisal and for those lacking PowerPoint. The other is the PowerPoint itself, which should download to your computer, and you can save and use it from there - which includes some helpful notes and references.

You may manipulate the PowerPoint file in any way for your own classroom use, but not post or otherwise distribute it following changing.
